Welcome to Cafeteria Victories
Sep 11, 2025
Welcome to Cafeteria Victories, a place to recognize the practical, creative sustainability work happening in school cafeterias across the country.
We highlight 5th-12th grade Green Teams, Environmental Clubs, Eco Clubs, and school sustainability teams that are taking action to reduce cafeteria waste and build stronger habits in their school communities.
Maybe your team has started a recycling program, launched composting, found a way to reduce food waste, improved sorting systems, or brought more students into the work through a membership drive or school campaign.
If your team is learning, testing ideas, solving problems, and making progress, we want to hear about it.
Cafeteria Victories is here to help students share what they are trying, what is working, what they are still figuring out, and what other schools might learn from their experience.
Not every cafeteria victory has to be big. Sometimes the most useful stories are about small changes that took persistence, teamwork, and clear communication.
A better sign above the bins. A student-led reminder system. A compost station that finally starts working smoothly. A lunchroom conversation that leads to a new idea.
These are the kinds of efforts that build leadership.
Whether your school is in a small town, a suburb, or a big city, your story can help another team feel less alone and more ready to take the next step.
If you are ready to share your cafeteria-waste reduction work, click the “Spotlight Our School” button at the top of our website to schedule a video chat introduction.
We look forward to meeting your team, learning about your work, and helping more students see what is possible in their own cafeterias.
Cafeteria Victories supports middle and high school students as they develop their leadership in schoolwide cafeteria-waste reduction. Our programs are facilitated online and open to schools nationwide through articles, coaching, and facilitated peer mentoring.
To your sustainability success,
The Cafeteria Victories Team
Food is where our relationship with the Earth gets personal.
The choices we make create the lunchtime we experience. Are you having your ultimate lunchtime experience every day? If not yet, have you decided what problem in your school community's relationship with lunch you want to solve? Tell us about it and we'll find other schools who have a solution.
We will never sell your information, for any reason.
